The finish line of the fifth stage of this 41st Dakar has brought competitors from Tacna (bivouacs for cars, SxS and trucks) back to the doors of the "Ciudad Blanca" of Arequipa after a total distance of 714 km. The second stage Marathon, in which to be authorized once again was the only assistance among pilots, saw in the race two of the crews lined up in the ranks of Xtreme Plus Team.
The Polish Maciej Domzala and Rafal Marton brought the Polaris RZR 1000 Turbo #376 to the finish line of the SS despite some inconveniences that occurred on the road: at km 120 the vehicle hit a hidden stone in the fech-fech damaging the steering rod.
Domzala has waited for the arrival of the Toyota Land Cruiser 120 (in the race as fast assistance) of Marco Piana and Steven Griener and, repaired the damage, has been able to start again.
The other three Polaris with the colors of Xtreme Plus - Eric Abel & Christian Manez, Ronald Basso and Julien Menard, Santiago Creel Garza Rios and Szymon Gospodarczyk - remained instead at the bivouac of Arequipa to allow the mechanics of the team to fix mechanical problems and damages linked to rollovers and bumps with stones occurred in the previous days.
The rest day, Saturday 12 January 2019, was used to carry out all the necessary maintenance interventions for Polaris which, thanks to the use of Motul lubricating products, guarantee excellent performance even in the most demanding conditions. Equipped with CST tires, the 4 Polaris have proven to be very reliable and competitive on all types of terrain, allowing you to tackle the softer sand and the rough and stony bottoms without any problem.
